Palletising systems and pick and place robots on show at PPMA 2012

Visit PACE Mechanical Handling and Yaskawa Motoman Robotics, in collaboration on Stand D74 at the PPMA Show currently on at the NEC, Birmingham.

Exciting new products are on show as PACE display the latest 6 axis robot palletising system alongside two of Motoman’s pick and place robots with vision systems. The stand is hosted by Nick Cesare of PACE Mechanical Handling and Colin Jakes of Yaskawa Motoman Robotics, who will be very happy to fully explain the huge benefits of mechanical handling, including both palletising and pick and place systems.

Nick Cesare commented “One of our aims at the show is to impart knowledge about the ease of use and affordability of robotic palletising to companies who have not considered a mechanical handling solution for their particular set-up. I think a lot of visitors will be delighted to see how a robotic solution can speed up productivity and save costs at the same time.”

Second use robots now available.

During the last 6 years PACE have sold and installed over 65 used ABB robot palletises. We are now pleased to announce that we have taken on the agency for supply of new Yaskawa Motoman robots.

We have recently supplied new Motoman Robots to replace the ABB robot palletisers and therefore we now have some used robot palletising systems available for sale. These systems can be used for palletising most products, from potato sacks to sand and gravel. All electrics in the PACE panel have been upgraded to the latest health and safety specifications and the ABB robot has been fully serviced. The following options are available:

MOTOMAN MH5LS and MH5LF

PACE pick and place robot systems

The MH5LS/MH5LF is a compact, high-speed 6-axis robot that offers superior performance in a variety of applications such as packaging, material handling, machine tending and dispensing, where versatility is required.

The MH5LS and MH5LF features an 895 mm reach and offers the widest work envelope in its class. The MH5LS is controlled via the DX100 robot controller, which is capable of controlling up to 8 robots from the same controller , whilst the MH5LF uses the highly compact FS100 controller. Thanks to the compact design of this robot and built-in collision detection features, multiple robots can be easily accommodated in a single production facility.

MOTOMAN MPL160

The innovative, 4-axis palletizing robot MPL160 with it´s payload of 160 kg is a dynamic masterful mover and stands out due to it´s extremely high acceleration and axis speed values. Another important criterion is the low space requirement.

The supply lines of the MPL models are routed internally (four air lines and 22 electric cables) up to the wrist axis, thus ensuring maximum service life of the hose packages.

Moreover, the MOTOMAN MPL160 has a hollow wrist with a diameter of 50 or 60 mm. Even in the case of longer wrist axis motions there are no disturbing, externally routed supply lines.

Like all new MOTOMAN robot models, the MPL160 series is operated with the high-performance DX100 controller and can thus be equipped with all standard bus systems such as ASI-S. This bus cable can optionally also be routed internally through the robot as far as the wrist axis.

The MPL robots can optionally be delivered complete with a palletizing robot software package, specially tailored to the requirements of the customers. The software can be installed either on a PC or directly on the teach pendant.

MOTOMAN MPL100

Motoman MPL 100 palletising robot

The four-axis MPL100 ‘Master Palletizing’ robot has fast axial speeds and acceleration which reduces cycle times and increases production output.

Extensive 3,024 mm (119.1″) vertical reach provides for palletizing loads up to 108″ (2,743.2 mm) high on a 42″ (1,066.8 mm) pallet, or up to 105″ (2,667 mm) on a 48″ (1,219.2 mm) pallet. 100 kg (220.5 lb) payload; 3,159 mm (124.4″) horizontal reach; ±0.5 mm (±0.02″) repeatability.

Other MPL-series available with 80-, 160-, 300-, 500- and 800-kg payloads to meet wide range of palletizing requirements.

Features internally routed air lines and wiring between base of robot and end-of arm tool. Hollow wrist provides wide range of wrist motion and maximum cable life.

Can service multiple infeed conveyors and up to four pallet build locations.
