Small and agile: PACE expands its range of MOTOMAN robots with the MH3F

PACE’s smallest type of their “Material Handling” robots is the new YASKAWA MOTOMAN MH3F, a small but powerful and high speed 6-axis robot with a reach of 532 mm.

Yaskawa Motoman MH3F pick and place robot

It is designed for applications with a payload up to 3 kg and is ideally suited when space is at a premium. Typical applications for this robot are pick and place or packaging. Its high repeatability of +/- 0.02 mm also makes it an excellent robot for assembly tasks.

PACE install ’12 bag per minute’ potato hopper/weigher and bagger

PACE Mechanical Handling has recently completed the installation of its latest reconfigured twin weigher in to a large potato growers near Spalding, the Pacer MK II Twin Tank Hopper and Electronic Weigher.

Watch the video of the hopper/weigher in action!

The MK II, an upgraded edition of PACE’s earlier highly successful weigher, is capable of an increased throughput of 18 tonnes an hour (12 bags per minute) and comfortably meets the customer’s requirement of weighing, bagging and stitching 100 tonnes a day.

100% stitch fulfilment

Notable advances on earlier versions of the old style clamping device for bagging now includes 100% stitch fulfilment, along with electronic weighing scales highly tuned for accuracy.

Reliable and easy to use

The Pacer MK II Twin Tank Hopper Weigher, noted for its reliability and improved ease of use, weighs and transfers the correct weight on to a cross conveyor which feeds directly into the presented bag. Following an impressively fast and accurate stitch the bag proceeds onto a pallet, neatly stacked by one of PACE’s mechanical handling robots.

More pack sizes, easier control

The company’s MD commented “Replacing the old robot was the best thing we could do, as the number of different size packs have increased over the years and the old robot could not keep up with the amount of bags we now pack. The larger touch screen gives us easy program changes and makes the new MOTOMAN a more user friendly robot system”.

Quick installation

“We are delighted as Pace Mechanical Handling Ltd installed and programmed the new robot within a week of delivery”.

Exciting new products are on show as PACE display the latest 6 axis robot palletising system alongside two of Motoman’s pick and place robots with vision systems. The stand is hosted by Nick Cesare of PACE Mechanical Handling and Colin Jakes of Yaskawa Motoman Robotics, who will be very happy to fully explain the huge benefits of mechanical handling, including both palletising and pick and place systems.

Nick Cesare commented “One of our aims at the show is to impart knowledge about the ease of use and affordability of robotic palletising to companies who have not considered a mechanical handling solution for their particular set-up. I think a lot of visitors will be delighted to see how a robotic solution can speed up productivity and save costs at the same time.”

The PPMA Show runs from 25th until 27th September 2012, NEC, Birmingham.

MOTOMAN MPL160

The innovative, 4-axis palletizing robot MPL160 with it´s payload of 160 kg is a dynamic masterful mover and stands out due to it´s extremely high acceleration and axis speed values. Another important criterion is the low space requirement.

The supply lines of the MPL models are routed internally (four air lines and 22 electric cables) up to the wrist axis, thus ensuring maximum service life of the hose packages.

Moreover, the MOTOMAN MPL160 has a hollow wrist with a diameter of 50 or 60 mm. Even in the case of longer wrist axis motions there are no disturbing, externally routed supply lines.

Like all new MOTOMAN robot models, the MPL160 series is operated with the high-performance DX100 controller and can thus be equipped with all standard bus systems such as ASI-S. This bus cable can optionally also be routed internally through the robot as far as the wrist axis.

The MPL robots can optionally be delivered complete with a palletizing robot software package, specially tailored to the requirements of the customers. The software can be installed either on a PC or directly on the teach pendant.

Key benefits

Compact design allows maximum performance using minimal floor space
Increased durability of hose package by internal cabel wiring
Hollow wrist with through-the-arm cabling reduces interference, maintenance and facilitates programming
Optional: Palletizing robot software package
